JBP Symposium - April 12th

Join the PSBA for a special Japanese Black Pine Symposium on April 12th from 2-4pm at the Bellevue Botanical Garden Aaron Education center, located at 12001 Main St. in Bellevue.

The symposium, while open to all members, is specifically intended for “intermediate" skill level members, who are interested in expanding their knowledge of styling and developing Japanese Black Pine bonsai. This symposium will focus on the early and middle stages of bonsai creation and development. The format for the event is a combination of lecture and hands on demonstration of styling and development techniques, presented by knowledgeable and experienced PSBA members.

The Japanese Black Pine (Pinus Thungberii) is one of the most used coniferous species for bonsai, especially in Asia. If you are interested in better understanding how seasoned bonsai artist create beauty from “ordinary” plant material, this event is for you!

PSBA Returns to Japan Fair at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, June 27th & 28th

After a six year hiatus, the Puget Sound Bonsai Association is returning to Japan Fair! This free festival celebrating Japanese art and culture will take place Saturday, June 27 (10am-6pm) and Sunday, June 28 (10am-5pm) at Meydenbauer Center in downtown Bellevue. Among musicians, artisans, community organizations, and businesses from both Japan and the U.S., the PSBA will have two booths in the main hall and two tables in the lobby area. Come enjoy live performances on stage, hands-on exhibits, cultural workshops, vendor booths, and bonsai! We are looking for docents to help share information about bonsai and our club during the fair. Annual Special Events

New Member Workshop Spring Session - Beginning bonsai class for new PSBA members. Spring and Fall sessions are offered. New club members are invited to take one of each session within two years of joining PSBA. A one-time $75 fee for materials is required.

Spring Sale - Public sale event of bonsai and related materials by club members and local vendors, held one afternoon, typically in March.

Spring Show – Annual exhibit. An opportunity for members to showcase their trees. Held in May, typically on Mother's Day Weekend, at Pacific Bonsai Museum in Federal Way, WA.

Annual Auction – A professionally-conducted live auction featuring up to 70 trees at varying price points, plus a silent auction of trees, pots, books, and materials.
Member Potluck/Summer Picnic – A summer tradition where members and their families enjoy informal fellowship, great food, and a member bazaar offering great bargains on trees, pots, and stones.
